The Client

Carve Designs is an active apparel company offering a full range of technical water sports, après surf, and lifestyle collections.

The Vision

Carve Designs developed their own Microsoft Excel based system for ordering that is used by sales reps across the country. A new spreadsheet template is prepared each season that contains full listings and prices for the current product line.

The system worked well for sales reps, but processing orders from spreadsheets required manual entry into QuickBooks. This was labor intensive and error-prone. Thayer Sylvester, co-founder of Carve Designs, saw the desirability of a simple utility application that could import orders from the color and size matrix format of the order spreadsheets to QuickBooks sales orders.

The Results

PJPM developed the QuickBooks Order Vacuum, which can quickly and easily scan order spreadsheets and enter orders into QuickBooks. The application integrates with Excel 2002 (XP), 2003 or 2007 and QuickBooks Professional edition. It includes the ability to read sales items from a new template and initialize a hierarchical item list in QuickBooks. It is also able to update COGS data and pricing for existing item hierarchies. Application features are accessed from a pre-ribbon style Excel toolbar for compatibility with older Excel versions
